Common Sense Media aims to grow and scale foundational digital literacy & AI skills among Miami’s K-12 youth. AI literacy is a set of core competencies that complement hard-skill technical training, enabling individuals to critically evaluate, communicate, and harness AI as a tool for learning or workforce development at home, school, and in their community.

For the past 21 years, Common Sense has been working to improve the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. Over a decade ago, Common Sense Media pioneered the field of digital literacy and digital citizenship with their award-winning curriculum, developed in partnership with the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Today, their free resources and training reach nearly 1.3 million educators in over 90K schools across the country, including 81% of U.S. Title I schools, and nearly 2,900 educators in Miami.

Leaders & Partners

Impact

Digital Equity Institute and ASU’s Experience Center have the privilege of collaborating with Common Sense on a successful Phoenix-based ACP pilot program. From ensuring the program is achieving its greatest programmatic impact, to decision making based on robust data, and a willingness to be nimble to meet the complex needs of communities, they are an excellent partner. Scaling their work would be a great benefit to work in the digital equity space.
