Generation USA supports unemployed individuals, with an emphasis on Black/Latinx/Female individuals, with lifelong skills training and job matching to propel them into sustainable careers by transforming the post-secondary education landscape. We work with community college systems to enhance credential-based learning and connect these credentials with job placements by partnering with employers to meet demand. Entering a Generation program is not simply taking a course online -- it’s participating and belonging to a community of support. Our top-notch global curriculum design team, composed of long-time educators, are experts in online-first learning. For each profession, the Generation team creates a curriculum to match the needs of our employer partners, incorporating technical training in the core competencies of each role and integrating behavioral skills and mindsets demonstrated by top performers. Our Learner Experience Team employs both Career Coaches and Life Coaches to support learners holistically and address a myriad of challenges throughout the cohort life cycles including: Resume and cover letter writing workshops, mock interviews, job application support, academic challenges, personal issues which may put learners at risk for dropout, and referrals to service providers in each program location.
Generation serves a population of individuals for whom the existing education-to-employment system has not worked. They face a myriad of life challenges, including transportation, parenting and family challenges, and food and housing insecurity. Generation has extensive experience serving opportunity youth; 85% of learners are Black or Latinx, 62% of learners have a high school diploma or GED only, and 40% of learners have dependents.

Impact
I started doing this whole program at my mom’s bar counter in her one-bedroom apartment. I was doing my work there and caring for her when I was able to. The instructors were very understanding of that. There were moments where I had to be like, okay, hold on, and turn my camera off, because my mom needed something while I was in class. My instructors allowed for that flexibility, which allowed me to essentially be on top of the work I had to do to jumpstart my career, and take on my responsibilities at home.
Current Metrics
Since launching in 2015, we have graduated over 5600 learners.
82% of graduates are placed into employment by 180 days post graduation.
Alumni wages increase 4x post graduation.
