The Cyber Empowerment Miami project will provide individuals in the Greater Miami Area with an Advanced IT and/or Cybersecurity bootcamp training and job placement opportunity. This program is designed underrepresented, under-resourced, and military-affiliated individuals interested in information technology who want to improve their lives through launching a new career in tech. This program will enable learners to receive industry-driven and hands-on IT and/or cybersecurity training, enhanced in-program , and job placement assistance.
In the United States, over 75% of cybersecurity jobs are held by men, while only 38% of all computer science-related jobs are held by individuals from BIPOC communities. Increasing access, support, and placement opportunities to these underrepresented and underserved communities will change individual lives, protect individual and community data and lives, and make tech-related fields more holistic with various experiences, worldviews, and cultural capital to provide for a broader range of thought and solutions.
